The Chocolate Box
The chocalate box was a gift.I was told to go meet her
And she gave me the chocolate box,
as small as a pocket book it came
and in it lies countless packets of chocolates.
Wrapped in plastic as blue as the skys.
Getting it through te day was no walk in the park
it was a battlefield with hands of greedy people with looks of the dark.
Determined to save the box, I risk it all and shove it off.
Through Biology, Physics and Chemistry
and recess and English.
I fought to the very end.
As I finally reached home, worn and battered,
I took out the box and laid it on my desk.
A little crumpled at the sides but that was no problem.
For I have saved every bit of chocolate, except for one.
Which was given to a kindly ol' soul.
As the first piece entered my mouth, a savoury flavour as bright as dawn
which brings back memories of the long and forlorn.
My school life was curious, just like my initial taste.
As I closed the box and went on with life,
The chocolates disappeared like snow in summer.
I had eaten too fast and took it for granted.
I swore to appreciate this wonderful gift.
Days passed as the chocolates faded.
Until one was left,
and I opened it.
It reminded me of my present state. Carefree and happy.
But as the chocolates dissolved,
I was taken to reality
Life is like chocolates
Free and wild,
but as the reality sets in,
you'd realise it was never meant to last.
As the chocolates disappeared like moments in life,
It leaves behind memories.
Memories of the Chocolate Box...
